Articles | 2026-03-10

Yu-jin Lee, a master’s student in the POSTECH Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Soo-young Chae, has been selected for an IEEE APEC Travel Grant to support participation in the 2026 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (IEEE APEC 2026).

IEEE APEC 2026, the largest international conference in power electronics with more than 5,000 participants, is scheduled to take place in Texas, USA, from March 23 to 26, 2026. The grant supports student researchers presenting papers at the conference. Recipients are selected through a comprehensive assessment of their research achievements and potential contributions to the conference.

Lee will present “Open-Circuit Switch Fault Detection Method for SPMSM Drives Using a Single DC-Link Shunt Current” at IEEE APEC 2026. The study proposes a method that rapidly detects and locates inverter open-switch faults using only a single DC-link shunt current sensor. It implements a lightweight model that reduces computational demands while maintaining high accuracy.
