Do-won Lee, a PhD student in the POSTECH Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Moonjoo Lee, received the SK hynix Paper Award at the 32nd Korean Conference on Semiconductors (KCS 2025) for “Construction of an Optical Conveyor Belt and Optical Lattices in Atom-Cavity system.” The conference is Korea’s largest academic event for sharing the latest semiconductor research.
In this presentation, Lee and Professor Lee’s team precisely transported neutral atoms into a high-finesse optical cavity using an optical conveyor belt, stably trapped them in a three-dimensional optical lattice, and observed exceptional-point phenomena in the system.
Building on these results, the team is focusing on quantum network nodes in which atoms and photons can exchange information coherently. They also plan to continue key research toward scalable large-scale quantum computers, quantum simulation, and quantum repeaters.
