Dr. Bu-mun Jung, who earned a PhD in the Energy Systems Laboratory (ESL) of the POSTECH Department of Electrical Engineering under Professor Young-Jin Kim, joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at Changwon National University as an assistant professor in January 2026.

After conducting research on power electronics and motor control under Professor Kim, Dr. Jung worked as a Staff Engineer in Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances Business. During doctoral studies at POSTECH, Dr. Jung successfully carried out several major research projects with outstanding research capabilities and initiative, publishing four first-author papers in leading power electronics journals, including three in IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications. Dr. Jung also presented several papers at conferences including the IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC) and the IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE).

At Changwon National University, Dr. Jung will teach motor control and applications and conduct in-depth research and development on next-generation motor control technologies to improve drive-system performance and efficiency and expand high-performance, highly reliable motor applications.
