Suchang Song, a master’s student in POSTECH Electrical Engineering (advisor: Professor Yongjune Kim), received a Best Paper Award at the 2025 KICS Summer Conference for “Collaborative Inference between Edge Devices and Servers Using Vision-Language Models.”

The KICS Summer Conference is one of Korea’s largest conferences in electrical and electronic engineering, attracting more than 2,000 participants.

The study proposed a framework for efficient vision-language model inference through collaboration between edge devices and cloud servers. In particular, it presented an algorithm that improves communication efficiency by using edge-device computing resources to semantically compress information sent to the server.
