POSTECH's Center for Semiconductor Technology Convergence (CSTC), co-directed by Professor Byung-hoon Lee, has been selected for the Glocal Lab program.
This new Ministry of Education program supports university-affiliated institutes as regional research hubs. Five hub projects in the Seoul metropolitan area and six outside it were selected. CSTC will receive KRW 13.5 billion in national funding over nine years.
Drawing on specialized infrastructure for producing large-area, ultrathin two-dimensional wafers, CSTC will pursue innovative research, invigorate basic research, and train future scholars. It also plans to support local companies in connection with the RISE program.
Its ultimate research goal is the development and commercialization of ultrathin, large-area semiconductor materials. Selection is expected to strengthen CSTC's research capabilities and establish it as a key university-affiliated institute leading regional industrial development.
