Events | 2012-03-08

POSTECH’s commencement ceremony for the 2011 academic year was held on Friday, February 10, 2012, in the university gymnasium. Approximately 2,500 people attended, including President Yongmin Kim, Board Chair Joo-yang Chung, distinguished guests from inside and outside the university, students, and parents.

As in the previous year, after the official university commencement, each department moved to a separate venue to hold its own diploma presentation ceremony.

The Department of Electrical Engineering’s ceremony for the 2011 academic year took place in the lobby of the LG Research Building. Around 300 people attended, including Department Head Professor Sang Woo Kim, faculty members, degree recipients and their families, and current students.

The varied program included congratulatory remarks from the department head; presentation of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral diplomas; outstanding dissertation awards for graduate students and academic achievement awards for undergraduates; celebratory events such as graduates tossing their caps, a celebratory salute, and current students launching paper airplanes; a group commemorative photograph; and refreshments. The ceremony offered a memorable celebration for graduates whose dedicated studies had culminated in the honor of earning their degrees.

Doctoral graduates Junghwan Moon and Daehyun Kang received Outstanding Dissertation Awards. Bachelor’s graduates Yosep Jeon and Junwoo Jang received both Highest Honors and awards for earning honors seven times. Wonseok Choi, Seungjae Oh, and Seunghoon Kim received Highest Honors.
