Inyoung Choi (advisor: Professor Bumman Kim) received the Best Design Award in the Chip Design Contest at the 19th Korean Conference on Semiconductors.
Contestants demonstrated and explained the actual operation of fabricated chips to conference participants. In the ASIC category, Choi presented “dB-linear VGA,” demonstrating a dB-linear variable-gain amplifier without a separate control circuit, and received the Best Design Award with KRW 500,000.
At the 18th conference, themed “Semiconductor beyond IT,” Chanha Kim (advisor: Professor Seungjoo Yoo) received the Dongbu HiTek Award in the paper category. Using experimental data from actual NAND flash chips, he modeled flash memory error conditions in a simulator, laying a foundation for NAND flash reliability research. His paper, “A Reliability Model of NAND Flash Memory for Solid State Disk Design,” earned the award and KRW 1 million.
The Korean Conference on Semiconductors is Korea’s largest conference in the field. Since its launch in 1994, its first 18 editions drew a cumulative approximately 17,000 researchers from universities, research institutes, and industry.
