Professor Seung-joo Yoo of the Department of Electrical Engineering has been selected as a leader who will drive Korea's industrial development.
On the 18th, the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, chaired by Joon-yang Chung, announced 100 technologies expected to become growth engines for an advanced Korea and 217 key developers. Approximately 120 experts participated in the selection over 17 months beginning in 2012.
Researchers were selected from companies, universities, research institutes, and other organizations, including 56 university researchers.
Professor Yoo was recognized for presenting a vision of a sustainable society through environmentally friendly, ultralow-power semiconductor circuit technology. Professor Youn-bae Kang was recognized for technology enabling extensive use of low-cost fuels and raw materials in steelmaking.
The awards ceremony will be held on the 19th at the Chosun Hotel in Seoul with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
