Professor Ki Hong Im of Electrical Engineering Receives the Dr. Irwin Jacobs Award

Recognized for contributions to technological and academic advancement in information and communications.

Professor Ki Hong Im of the Department of Electrical Engineering has recently been selected for the Dr. Irwin Jacobs Award, named after the founder of the U.S. company Qualcomm.

Over the past five years, Professor Kim published approximately 40 outstanding papers in IEEE communications publications, including IEEE Communications Magazine, and registered approximately 20 U.S. and Korean patents. The award recognizes his significant contributions to academic activities and communication technology innovation in Korea and internationally.

Since 2013, the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences and Qualcomm have jointly selected up to two recipients each year who have contributed to research and industrial advancement in Korea’s information and communications sector.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at ICTC 2014 (International Conference on ICT Convergence), held October 22–24 at the Paradise Hotel in Busan.
