Gold Prize at the Korea Semiconductor Design Contest
POSTECH Electrical Engineering Students Seungho Han and Sueun Lee and Professor Byungsub Kim’s Team
POSTECH Electrical Engineering graduate students Seungho Han and Sueun Lee and their advisor, Professor Byungsub Kim, won the Gold Prize (Prime Minister’s Award) at the 15th Korea Semiconductor Design Contest.
Competing as “POSTECH Analog Systems IC,” they received the award for “Coefficient-Error-Robust Feed Forward Equalizer” in the open topic category.
The judges praised the entry for using a simple principle and an excellent idea to reduce FFE sensitivity to tap coefficient errors and lower power consumption. They expected a major impact because the technology is particularly important as data communication speeds continue to increase.
Jointly hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, the Korea Semiconductor Design Contest aims to identify semiconductor design intellectual property and foster the semiconductor IP industry. Now in its 15th year, it comprises an open topic category for researchers and students at semiconductor design companies, research institutes, and universities, and a creative IP category exclusively for undergraduate and graduate students.
The award ceremony was held on the afternoon of the 21st at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Seoul.
