Jahyun Koo, a PhD student in POSTECH Electrical Engineering (advisor: Professor Jae-Yoon Sim), received the Best Poster Award in the Chip Design Contest at the 2016 International SoC Design Conference hosted by IEEE for “Integrated Circuit System for Smart Contact Lens.”
The work integrates into an IC a control system that reads glucose concentrations in tears in real time simply by wearing a contact lens. It reads the output of a glucose sensor integrated into the lens and wirelessly transmits the data to an external receiver. The technology is expected to support future healthcare for people with diabetes.
