On December 2, Myeong-jun Lee, a master's student, and Seung-jae Lee, a Ph.D. student in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Kyung-tae Kim, received an IEEE EMC Korea Chapter Outstanding Paper Award at the Korean Institute of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science's 2016 Annual Conference for “A Comparison of GMTI performance using DPCA for various clutter.”
They built a simulator and measured and analyzed detection and false-alarm rates to determine how ground clutter affects the detection of moving ground targets in airborne SAR systems.
The technology is expected to be applied to satellite-based detection of moving ground targets.
