Gi-hwan Seong, a Ph.D. student in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering, and his advisor Professor Hong-june Park received a Best Paper Award (Synopsys Award) at the 2016 International SoC Design Conference, organized by IEIE and IEEE, for “All-Synthesizable Transmitter Driver and Data Recovery Circuit for USB2.0 Interface.”
They proposed and implemented the first USB 2.0 transmitter/receiver circuits using only digital circuitry, enabling easy porting as fabrication processes change, whereas earlier work used analog circuits.
The international conference began on October 23 at the Ramada Hotel in Jeju, featuring approximately 130 papers and participants from more than ten countries.
