Chairman Dong-Sik Shin, often introduced abroad as the “father of Korea's shipbuilding industry” and a “planner of nation building,” is a leading figure and living witness to the transformation of Korea's undeveloped shipbuilding sector of the 1960s into today's world leader through determination and pioneering spirit. He will speak on “The Path of Korea's World-Leading Shipbuilding Industry.”

Awards: Iron Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit for technical service exports; Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit for contributions to maritime industry and science/technology; Presidential Commendation for attracting foreign investment; Lifetime Achievement Award, International Maritime Convention; Wooam Award for modernizing shipbuilding; and March 1 Culture Award for polar exploration, marine resource development, and strengthening maritime sovereignty.
