On October 18, In-seok Park, a Ph.D. student, Dr. Nam-gyu Kwon, and Professor Boo-gyun Park of POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy's Outstanding Paper Award at the 17th International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems (ICCAS 2017), organized by ICROS.

Their paper, “On dynamic output-feedback control for uncertain singular Markovian jump system: LMI approach,” designs a dynamic output-feedback controller for an uncertain singular Markovian jump system.

It derives stabilization conditions as matrix inequalities and expresses them as linear matrix inequalities through a particular choice of Lyapunov matrix elements, improving an existing approximate-solution method to obtain an optimal solution.

ICCAS 2017 received 541 papers from 26 countries, with 272 oral presentations: 127 domestic and 145 international.
