On November 24 of this year, Hee-gwang Lee, an integrated master's/Ph.D. student in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Kwang-hee Nam, received a paper award for “Current Control Technique for Propulsion Motor for EV,” published in the journal of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics.
The paper addresses control and design issues for interior permanent-magnet motors used to propel electric vehicles. It describes how to select optimal current, construct a look-up table (LUT), and account for torque characteristics arising from nonlinear core magnetic flux.
The paper is expected to contribute to EV propulsion motor control, which must respond actively to diverse operating ranges and changes in surrounding conditions.
