Young-cheol Kwak, a master's student in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Woo-jin Song, received an Outstanding Paper Award at the 19th Conference on Electronics, Information and Communications (CEIC 2017), organized by the IEIE Switching and Routing Research Group, for “A SAR Automatic Target Recognition Algorithm Based on a CNN Robust to Speckle Noise.”

The paper proposed a convolutional neural network (CNN) robust to speckle noise in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images for automatic target recognition.

The ceremony took place on Friday, December 1, at the Interciti Hotel in Yuseong, Daejeon.

CEIC is jointly organized by IEIE, KICS, and the IEEE Daejeon Section as an industry–university–research conference to advance information and communications and electronic engineering.
