Professor Hong June Park and combined MS/PhD student Jihoon Lim of POSTECH Electrical Engineering received an Excellence Award, with a cash prize of KRW 3 million, for their transceiver at SK hynix’s Sixth Outstanding Invention Awards for Industry–University Research Projects.
The patent proposes a new transceiver for on-chip interconnect channels. The circuit uses negative input resistance to reduce the high RC time constant of on-chip interconnects, increasing bandwidth. It also achieves high energy efficiency through charge recycling caused by voltage inversion.
The ceremony took place on March 30 at the company’s headquarters in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
