Soo-eun Lee and Jae-young Seo, Ph.D. students, and Kyung-hyun Lim and Jae-hyun Ko, master's students in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Byung-sub Kim, received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award (third place) at the 19th Korea Semiconductor Design Contest organized by the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association.
The team designed a transceiver using phase difference modulation (PDM) to communicate efficiently through channels with severe signal reflections caused by discontinuities. It achieved world-class performance and was recognized for its excellence.
Held annually since 2000, the contest is Korea's largest of its kind and identifies and rewards design technologies with strong academic and commercial achievements to develop outstanding semiconductor designers. This year, 41 teams from 18 universities and graduate schools nationwide competed.
