Jiwook Choi, an integrated MS/PhD student in POSTECH’s Department of Electrical Engineering (thesis advisor: Professor Namyoon Lee), won the Grand Prize and KRW 10 million at the 10th Undergraduate and Graduate Student ICT Paper & Invention PPT Competition, hosted by Electronic Times and IDIS.
His paper, “Joint User Scheduling, Power Allocation, and Precoding Design with Imperfect CSIT for MU-MIMO Downlink Cellular Systems: A Principal Component Analysis Approach,” proposed an efficient method for maximizing wireless transmission efficiency in MU-MIMO environments with imperfect channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT).
Approximately 400 papers competed in the contest, which offers Korea’s largest scholarship prize in the ICT field. Choi’s paper ranked first and received the Grand Prize.
Now in its tenth year, the ICT Paper & Invention PPT Competition is designed to nurture outstanding science and engineering talent, identify ideas from undergraduate and graduate students in ICT fields—including AI, software, hardware, IoT, cloud, security, communications, and semiconductors—and encourage research activities.
The award ceremony is scheduled for December 7.
