Seung-sik Moon, In-soo Kim, and Dong-yoon Gam, master's students in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Young-joo Lee, received an Encouragement Award in the Communication & Networks category of Samsung Electronics' 25th Humantech Paper Awards. The prize included KRW 2 million.

Their paper, “Massive MIMO systems with low-resolution ADCs: Energy consumption vs. Symbol detection performance,” analyzed ADCs with different resolutions and symbol detection algorithms to propose an optimal baseband configuration for low-power massive MIMO.

It introduced a low-power design methodology based on the complexity and energy consumption required in practical implementations.

The awards ceremony was held on February 13 at Samsung Electronics' Seocho headquarters.
