Jaeyoung Park, a graduate student in POSTECH Electrical Engineering (advisor: Professor Young-Jin Kim), received a Best Paper Award at the 50th Summer Conference of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers, held in July, for “A Study on Dynamic Modeling of Grid Frequency and Voltage Responses to Load Shedding and Restoration.”
The paper proposed a dynamic model of frequency and voltage variations caused by load shedding and restoration in power systems. By quantitatively modeling power changes resulting from load shedding and restoration through changes in network topology, it developed a dynamic model of the resulting grid frequency and voltage variations.
