POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering was selected to represent the university in the National Research Foundation of Korea's 2019 program for developing next-generation engineering researchers.

Five universities nationwide were selected. Led by engineering colleges, the program identifies promising core industries as specialized areas and promotes technology exchanges and collaborative research among industry, universities, and research institutes to train engineers who will lead future industries.

The POSTECH team was the only selected university team in electrical engineering. It will conduct research on materials, processes, and components for 5G+/6G communications over three years with total funding of KRW 1.5 billion.
