Dae-yeon Kim, a master's student, and Seung-yoon Lee, an integrated master's/Ph.D. student in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering, received the Third Place Award in the ICCAD 2019 Contest: LEF/DEF Based Open-Source Global Router, organized by the 38th IEEE/ACM International Conference on Computer-Aided Design.

Established in 1999, the contest is a leading international competition in electronic design automation. This year's challenge was to optimize and automate routing guides for semiconductor cell placements while considering design rules.

Among 121 teams from 14 regions worldwide, the POSTECH team placed third, marking the first award for a Korean university team in the competition.

ICCAD 2019 took place November 4–7 in Westminster, Colorado, USA.
