Changhyun Kim, a master’s student in POSTECH Electrical Engineering (advisor: Professor Youngjoo Lee), received a Best Paper Award (NAVER Paper Award) at the 2020 Summer Conference of the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers, held in Jeju on August 19–21. Co-recipients were PhD student Dongyun Kam and Professor Lee.
The team is developing an IoT communications system for factory automation in collaboration with ETRI. Their paper, “Complexity Analysis of the OSD Algorithm for Short Error-Correcting Codes,” presented the world’s first comparison of the implementation complexity of next-generation OSD-based error-correcting codes under theoretical development with commercial 5G systems. It was recognized for identifying research directions toward practical implementation.
