PhD Students Heedong Do and Deokhwan Han and Professor Namyoon Lee Selected for Silver, Bronze, and Special Advisor Awards at Samsung Humantech Paper Awards

POSTECH Electrical Engineering graduate students Heedong Do and Deokhwan Han and their advisor, Professor Namyoon Lee, will receive Silver (KRW 7 million), Bronze (KRW 5 million), and the Special Advisor Award (KRW 5 million), respectively, in the Communication & Networks category of the Humantech Paper Awards.

Do’s paper, “Rotating ULAs Achieve Capacity of LOS MIMO Channels,” examined the theoretical foundation of terahertz communications from a physical-layer perspective. It established the information-theoretic capacity of line-of-sight multi-antenna channels—the upper bound on channel capacity across all possible antenna arrays.

Han’s paper, “Sparse Joint Transmission for Super-Dense Cloud Radio Access Networks,” proposed a new transmission algorithm called sparse joint transmission (Sparse-JT) for super-dense cloud radio access networks.

Professor Lee was honored with the Special Advisor Award in recognition of his contributions.

Samsung Electronics established the Humantech Paper Awards in 1994 to identify and nurture outstanding scientific and technological talent and secure world-leading competitiveness and technological capabilities.

The award ceremony is scheduled for February 9.
