POSTECH Alumnus Dr. Minsu Choi Breaks the 200 Gb/s Barrier

Articles | 2021-04-20

Dr. Minsu Choi, a PhD graduate of POSTECH Electrical Engineering (advisor: Professor Byungsub Kim), developed the world’s first wireline transmitter to exceed 200 Gb/s.

The research increased the previous maximum speed of ultrahigh-speed wireline transmitters by more than 56% and was well received at the 2021 International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), one of the world’s largest circuit-design conferences.

The result is expected to help meet demand for wireline bandwidth, which has doubled every three to four years. Dr. Choi achieved this while working as a postdoctoral researcher in Professor Elad Alon’s group at UC Berkeley after graduation.
