Professor Namyoon Lee Receives 2021 IEEE–IEIE IT Young Engineer Award

POSTECH announced on the 20th that Electrical Engineering Professor Namyoon Lee was selected for the IT Young Engineer Award, jointly administered by IEEE and IEIE and sponsored by the Haedong Science and Culture Foundation, chaired by Young-Jae Kim. The ceremony will take place July 1 at Lotte Hotel Jeju.

Established in 2006 and now in its sixteenth year, the international award selects one scientist or engineer under forty annually for major technological and academic contributions to IT, following rigorous evaluation by Korean and international experts.

Professor Lee leads domestic and international research on fundamental transmission/reception methods for 6G systems and federated learning algorithms for next-generation mobile AI services. He has world-leading expertise in beamforming optimization, a core technology for next-generation multi-antenna systems using millimeter-wave and terahertz bands.

He has published 47 papers in leading IEEE communications and information theory journals and 72 international conference papers and filed or registered fifty domestic and international patents.

He serves on technical program committees for ICC and GLOBECOM and as an editor of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Communications, and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.
