Articles | 2021-06-29

Professor Young-jin Kim of the Department of Electrical Engineering has been selected for an advanced Basic Research Lab (BRL) project supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT. Under a three-plus-three-year agreement with KRW 500 million in annual funding, he will study “Development of an Integrated AI-Based Control Framework for Optimal Operation of Next-Generation Power Systems Based on Uncertainty Quantification.”

The team includes Professors Young-myoung Ko and Min-woo Chae of POSTECH Industrial and Management Engineering and Professor Dae-hyun Choi of Chung-Ang University.

Experts in digital grids, energy big data, optimization and probabilistic models, statistics, and cybersecurity will collaborate to fundamentally address carbon-neutrality challenges and apply the results to the energy industry.

The advanced BRL track supports excellent basic interdisciplinary research to develop fundamental solutions to key issues that existing research has been unable to resolve.
