Gunho Park, a PhD student in POSTECH Electrical Engineering (advisor: Professor Youngjoo Lee), received a Best Paper Award (NAVER Paper Award) at the 2021 IEIE Summer Conference, held June 30–July 2.
Co-recipients were Professor Jaeha Kung of DGIST’s Information and Communication Engineering program, Chair Professor Youngseok Kim of the POSTECH Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Research Professor Mijeong Kim of POSTECH’s Sports Industry Support Center, and Professor Youngjoo Lee of POSTECH Electrical Engineering.
Park is designing efficient computational logic to improve the energy efficiency of deep-learning accelerators. His paper, “An Approximate Multiplier Design Framework for Low-Power Deep-Learning Accelerators,” quantitatively analyzed the effects of different approximate multiplier architectures on deep-learning computation and proposed a solution for designing optimal multiplier hardware.
