POSTECH Fellow Induction Ceremony
Two chemists whose outstanding research achievements have attracted global attention have been named POSTECH Fellows.
POSTECH, led by President Sunggi Baik, selected Chemistry Professors Kwang S. Kim, 59, and Kimoon Kim, 55, as the second group of recipients under the POSTECH Fellow program. Established in March 2009, the program aims to invigorate and improve the quality of faculty teaching and research.
The program recognizes tenured POSTECH professors with outstanding educational and research achievements. Selected professors receive extensive research support, including an extension of retirement age to 70, a special annual bonus of approximately KRW 50 million, and additional graduate student allocations.
After the standard retirement age of 65, they continue to receive faculty housing, offices, and laboratories and may continue supervising students.
In March, POSTECH selected Life Sciences Professor Jinheung Ahn and Electrical Engineering Professor Bumman Kim as its first POSTECH Fellows.
The POSTECH Fellow induction ceremony was held at 11:30 a.m. on the 1st at the POSCO International Center on campus. It was a joint event honoring Professors Kwang S. Kim and Kimoon Kim together with Professors Jinheung Ahn and Bumman Kim.
