[Award] Ph.D. Student Seung-sik Moon Wins Best Paper at the Samsung DS Industry–University Research Exchange

Awards | 2021-12-17

Seung-sik Moon, a Ph.D. student in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Young-joo Lee, received the Best Paper Award at the 2021 POSTECH–Samsung DS Industry–University Cooperation Exchange, held online on Friday, September 17.

In “Low-latency unfolded-KES architecture for emerging storage class memories,” Moon proposed a new error-correction circuit that substantially improves emerging nonvolatile-memory reliability while reducing latency, achieving nearly 30% better computational efficiency than existing designs.

The work received the highest evaluation among this year's Samsung DS joint research outcomes for its potential for direct application to next-generation memory industries.

POSTECH conducts approximately 50 strategic research projects with Samsung Electronics' DS Division and holds an annual exchange to share outstanding results.
