Awards | 2022-01-20

Chang-hyun Kim, a master's student in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Young-joo Lee, received the Korean Intellectual Property Office Commissioner's Award (Bronze Prize) at the 22nd Korea Semiconductor Design Contest.

Kim designed an ultralow-latency error-correction system for next-generation industrial IoT networks, proposing a solution more than ten times faster than existing approaches. The creativity of the research and the maturity of the semiconductor design were highly praised.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the semiconductor industry association, the Korea Semiconductor Design Contest was first held in 2000 to foster semiconductor design talent and identify creative ideas. Now in its 22nd year, it is regarded as Korea's only competition specializing in system semiconductors.

The awards were presented at the Semiconductor Day event held in Seoul on November 22.
