Professor Won-bin Hong of POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering has been selected as a 2022 member of the Young Korean Academy of Science and Technology (Y-KAST), the first scholar in the electromagnetics field to receive this distinction.
He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, worked as a principal researcher at Samsung Electronics, and joined POSTECH in February 2016. He has actively studied antennas and circuits for wearable and IoT devices and 5G and 6G communications.
With approximately 180 registered and pending patents, 150 academic papers, two specialized books, and 100 invited talks, Professor Hong has created new technologies in 5G antennas. His achievements in antenna engineering and broader electromagnetic engineering led to his selection.
The Korean Academy of Science and Technology selects researchers aged 43 or younger with outstanding academic achievements for Y-KAST.
