POSTECH Industry–University Cooperation Director Yoonha Jeong Receives Stone Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit
Recognized for resolving international patent disputes for SMEs and spreading intellectual property management systems.
Professor Yoonha Jeong of our department, Director of Industry–University Cooperation, was selected by the Korea Invention Promotion Association for contributions to invention and received the Stone Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit on the 18th, commemorating the 44th Invention Day.
As director of the Pohang National Center for Nanomaterials Technology since 2004, he used advanced nanotechnology to provide decisive evidence to Korean SMEs in international patent disputes with Japanese companies, helping them win all cases and strengthening their international competitiveness.
Since 2008, as POSTECH’s industry–university cooperation director and business incubation center director, he has achieved significant results in disseminating intellectual property and technology transfer management systems, incubating ventures, attracting multinational companies, fostering advanced industries, and protecting national core technologies.
After earning his doctorate at the University of Tokyo, he joined POSTECH in 1987 and served in positions including Electrical Engineering department head. He currently serves as industry–university cooperation director and director of the Pohang nanotechnology center, and as a steering committee member of the presidential National Science and Technology Council.
The academic community is noting the unusual award of an industrial service order to a university professor. It recognizes POSTECH, already distinguished in basic science research, for presenting a new development model encompassing intellectual property creation, creative talent development, and industry–university collaboration.
