Professor Won-bin Hong of POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering has been named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for 2023, becoming the first IEEE Fellow in Korea's antenna field.
IEEE is the world's largest and one of the most prestigious academic societies in electrical engineering, electronics, computing, and communications, with approximately 400,000 members in around 160 countries. Fellow, its highest membership grade, is awarded within the top 0.1% to members with outstanding research achievements in their fields following review against seven criteria, including individual research achievements, technical accomplishments, and professional leadership.
Professor Hong was recognized for significant contributions to millimeter-wave mobile and base-station antenna research. His lifetime Fellow status takes effect on January 1, 2023.
