[Award] Dae-hyun Kim and Team Win Top Prize at the Eighth KIEES Electromagnetic Measurement Paper Competition

Awards | 2023-04-07

Dae-hyun Kim, Young-no Yoon, Cheong-a Lee, Myeong-jin Hwang, Dong-geun Ahn, Jin-young Choi, Jun-seok Ma, Im-bo Gong, and Professors Wook-sung Kim and Won-bin Hong of POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering received the top prize at the eighth Electromagnetic Measurement Paper Competition in 2023, organized by the Korean Institute of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science.

Their paper, advised by Professor Won-bin Hong, was titled “A Technique for Extracting Liquid Crystal Permittivity in the Sub-THz Band Using Complementary FSS.”

The competition helps undergraduate and master's/Ph.D. students studying electromagnetics at Korean universities understand the importance of electromagnetic measurement, disseminates accurate techniques based on measurement standards, and supports talent development.

The paper proposed an efficient way to measure liquid crystal permittivity in the sub-THz band by designing a metasurface sensitive to permittivity changes using commercial LCD technology.
