Awards | 2023-07-04

Seonghye Park, a doctoral student advised by Professor Seokhyeong Kang, and Junjong Lee, an integrated master's/doctoral student advised by Professor Rock-Hyun Baek, in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering have been selected for the Innovative POSTECHIAN Fellowship for the first semester of 2023. Fellowship recipients receive scholarships in recognition of outstanding research achievements.

Park was selected for research developing efficient qubit mapping methods for real quantum hardware to automate quantum computer design. Her achievements include papers at the premier Design Automation Conference (DAC) and International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD); the Grand Prize in the second POSTECH-EE Research Achievement Competition; an Encouragement Award in the third POSTECH Research Achievement Competition; first place in the 2022 QML Overall Challenge; and three international patent applications arising from ternary logic research she coauthored during her master's studies.

Lee was selected for research proposing process and cost guidelines for backside power mapping in next-generation logic processes at nodes of 2 nm and below. His achievements include a paper at the leading semiconductor conference, the Symposium on VLSI Technology and Circuits; four papers and one patent application on next-generation logic devices; an Outstanding Researcher Award from the Korea Semiconductor Research Consortium; and a coauthored paper on ternary logic at the premier IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM).
