Professor Rok-hyun Baek of POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering received an Excellence Award at the 11th Industry–University Research Outstanding Invention Awards, held on October 31, 2023, at the guesthouse of SK hynix headquarters in Icheon.

His patent on AI technology for quantifying optimal conditions for semiconductor devices (transistors) was recognized for its contribution to improving semiconductor process productivity.

The ceremony was attended by five award recipients and SK hynix executives, including Executive Vice Presidents Seon-yong Cha (Future Technology Research), Yoon-wook Kim (Sustainable Management), and Yong-soo Ha (Patents), and R&D Strategy Planning Team Leader Joon-soo Kim.

The awards evaluate patents arising from SK hynix industry–university research projects and recognize outstanding inventions. Held annually since 2013, the program encourages researchers and the development of excellent patents.
