During the 2011 summer vacation, the department ran various outreach programs for high school students in conjunction with the university's outreach activities. Visiting students responded positively to programs including videos introducing the department and its research fields, electrical engineering lectures by faculty, tours of major laboratories, and robot demonstrations.

The program is increasingly establishing itself as a useful way to introduce the department and help prospective students decide on their future paths.
