Seong-jun Park, a postdoctoral researcher in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Yong-jun Kim, received a Best Paper Award at the 34th Joint Conference on Communications and Information for “A Dual-Masked Error Correction Code Transformer.”

The paper proposed improving decoding performance by designing an error-correcting code decoder with two parallel transformers. Their self-attention structures use different mask matrices, producing a diversity effect that improves decoder performance.

The proposed algorithm demonstrated excellent decoding performance across various codes, rather than only one type of error-correcting code.

Five papers received Best Paper Awards at the conference.
