Wonhyeong Heo, a master’s student in POSTECH Electrical Engineering (thesis advisor: Professor Wonbin Hong), received an Honorable Mention in the Student Paper Competition at the 2024 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting for “Implementation and Applications of Antenna Utilizing Hinge of Foldable Mobile device.”
The paper implemented an antenna in a foldable device’s hinge and proposed improved performance in folded/unfolded conditions through simultaneous radiation with an antenna-on-display, verifying the results experimentally. It was recognized for innovative ideas and excellent performance compared with research published worldwide.
IEEE AP-S/URSI is the world’s largest international conference of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society and is being held in Florence, Italy, this year. The 2024 Student Paper Competition received 314 submissions, among which Heo earned the Honorable Mention.
