Professor Seok-hyeong Kang of the Department of Electrical Engineering has been selected for the Google Silicon Research Program and will receive USD 30,000 in unrestricted gift funding.
The unconditional research grant supports his team's development of open-source semiconductor design automation software.
The program selects outstanding semiconductor design research groups worldwide through an annual review. Professor Kang's team was selected again this year following last year's award.
The program is expected to provide research support and computing resources from Google's silicon team for the semiconductor placement optimization software being studied by Jae-kyung Lim, an integrated master's/Ph.D. student.
