Jonghoon Kim, a PhD student in POSTECH’s Graduate School of Semiconductor Technology, and Professor Sewoon Shin’s Power Management and Integrated Circuit Systems Design Laboratory in the Department of Electrical Engineering will present semiconductor circuit design research at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) 2025. Research by Moonjung Cho, an integrated MS/PhD student in Electrical Engineering, will also be presented in the ISSCC Student Research Preview (SRP).

Kim achieved the first parameter optimization and multidimensional receiver coil implementation for resonant current-mode wireless charging, a technology for implantable medical devices. His paper is titled “A Programming-Free Three-Dimensional Resonant Current-Mode Wireless Receiver with Real-Time Link-Adaptivity and a 0.904 cm3 Receiver Coil for Implantable Systems.”

Cho proposed the first on-chip isolated offline RGBW LED driver providing multiple outputs with a single stage and single transformer winding, and designed a new controller enabling independent, precise current control.

Known as the “Olympics of semiconductor design,” ISSCC is the most prestigious semiconductor circuit design conference, with a history exceeding 70 years. ISSCC 2025 will take place in San Francisco, USA, from February 16 to 20 next year.
