[Award] Jeonghyo Lee Receives Honorable Mention at IEEE APS/URSI 2025

Jeonghyo Lee, an integrated master's/doctoral student in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering advised by Professor Wonbin Hong, received Honorable Mention in the Student Paper Competition at the 2025 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and North American Radio Science Meeting (IEEE AP-S/URSI) for “Concept of Multi-Harmonic Operation in Phased Array using Frequency-Reconfigurable Boundaries and Adaptive Unit-spacing Tuning Operator.”

The paper proposes dual-resonant-frequency operation using a single layer and only one antenna type, experimentally demonstrating high gain and wide beam coverage. A new frequency-selective feed structure, Adaptive Unit-spacing Tuning Operator (AUTO), and novel frequency-selective boundary conditions, Frequency-Selective Boundaries (FRB), demonstrate advantages in size and performance over previous phased-array antenna research. The paper's superior performance compared with studies published worldwide earned Honorable Mention.

IEEE AP-S/URSI is the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society's largest international conference worldwide and is held this year in Ottawa, Canada. A total of 131 papers were submitted to the 2025 Student Paper Competition, among which Lee's paper received Honorable Mention. Lee has now won awards at this conference for two consecutive years, a rare achievement worldwide.
