Rootra, a startup co-founded by Jong-yeop Seon, a fourth-year undergraduate in POSTECH's Department of Electrical Engineering, is attracting global attention for AI-based character personalization.
After becoming Korea's youngest Innovation Award recipient at CES 2023, Seon achieved consecutive selections for Google and OpenAI global startup programs in 2025.
His AI solution creates personalized characters that reflect a user's facial features while preserving a brand character's identity. It received a strong response at a local event at UC Berkeley, demonstrating its market potential.
Rootra currently focuses on business-to-business services and is also pursuing expansion into consumer services.
“Technology has the greatest meaning when it moves people,” Seon said, adding that he will continue building services that connect with people through warm, human-centered technology.
